The old houses and the charming hillsides contribute to the charm of the city, which is also the stage of one of the most popular festivals in Brazil: the Carnival.
In Agreste, Pernambuco is a paradise for extreme sports. In the months of June and July, the low temperatures, the activities that characterize the country life and the local gastronomy attract thousands of visitors. In the higher-altitude cities, on the so-called Borborema Plateau, the cold inspired cultural events such as the Garanhuns Winter Festival.       The sertão of the state also has a site of differentiated climate. Pernambuco is always with open arms to receive the tourists. Besides the natural wealth, it has a modern and qualified hotel network. Not to mention the unique hospitality of the people of Pernambuco.

It is, above all, a state marked by cultural diversity. And it has a population that breathes and values its culture, passing from generation to generation. Not by chance, the state is known in the country as one of the most lively cultural scene, built from the contribution of Indians, Portuguese, Dutch, Jews, Africans, among others. It is a barn of poets, artists and musicians recognized all over the world, not to mention their movements, the carnival, the São João, in our culture. This is Pernambuco.
Carnival, for example, is the biggest party. Not only of Pernambucans, but of all who visit the state at the time of this democratic party - whether in the capital, on the beaches or in the interior. There are maracatu, caboclinho, spinning coconut, ciranda and the greatest of all representatives - frevo! The rhythm, by the way, is unique and had its origin in the state itself. In the party, besides the slopes of Olinda, from the fervor of the Old Recife, there is also the Rooster of the Madrugada, the largest block of street in the world (according to the Guinness Book).
Inland, whether in the Sertão or Agreste, there are other cultural movements. The grimaces of Triunfo (a country town 600km from Recife); The Papangus de Bezerros (rough, 90km from the capital) that in the carnival promote a great party in the streets of the municipality.
Pernambuco is also the land of São João. The period of June in the state is one of the most traditional in the country. The city of Caruaru, in the agreste, is the central point where 30 days of celebration take place - all the month of June. It is the land of the forró, the xaxado, the master Vitalino, the famous "Caruaru Fair", Alto do Moura, among others. But it is not only in this city, where the festivities take place. From the capital to the interior there are many tributes to the saint.
In the Zona da Mata, both north and south, the highlight is the maracatus. A loose thud or an upset thump. Of African influence, they have a lot of strength in this region due to the large presence of sugarcane mills. In the colonial period, the slaves coming from Africa to work on sugar production brought customs here. In the old days, many of these movements happened either in secret or in the senzala. Over the years and the freedom of black people, culture has been incorporated as a whole. And today is one of our highlights. And among the cities, Nazaré da Mata emerges as one of the most concentrated maracatus.
All this is just a demonstration of the rich culture of Pernambuco. A culture that prides Pernambucans, which is passed on from generation to generation, carried to every corner of the world, but which can only be felt in its soul in our State. Therefore, to know a little more than the people of Pernambuco has to offer, it is not enough to study and read ... You have to try. This is Pernambuco.
